Dr. Michael Ash has parlayed his extensive knowledge to various presentations.

Backed by 25 years of practiced experience, Dr. Ash serves as the president of Southern Community College. In this position, he supervises the daily operations of the aforementioned college, including its vision and direction, fundraising and budget. Additionally, he represents Southern Community College to state legislators, and liaises with state and federal agencies. Prior to obtaining his current role, Dr. Ash worked as an adjunct professor for Central Methodist University in 2012 and an executive assistant to the president for resource development and external affairs at State Fair Community College between 2010 and 2012.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Ash gained valuable expertise in the field as a board member for the Central Missouri Community Credit Union, the vice president for institutional advancement and resource development and an adjunct professor and the vice president for student services and institutional effectiveness for State Fair Community College. Moreover, he flourished as the vice president for student services, an adjunct professor, the director of student services and the director of counseling for Regent University. An expert in his field, Dr. Ash earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Oral Roberts University in 1974. Subsequently, he received a Master of Arts in counseling from the University of Tulsa in 1984 and a Doctor of Education in higher education administration from the George Washington University in 2004. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Ash is affiliated with such organizations as the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the International Association of College Law Enforcement, the American College Personnel Association, the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors, the Missouri Community College Association and the Iowa Student Aid Commission, to name a few.
Devoted to his community, Dr. Ash has contributed to those in need through a variety of organizations, including the Melita Day Child Development Center, Habitat for Humanity, the Whiteman Air Force Base Area Leadership Council, the Darden School of Education and Human Services at Old Dominion University, and his local chapter of the United Way. For his professional accomplishments, he has been honored on many occasions, earning the Community Partnership Award from Young House, the CASE District VI Chief Executive Leadership Award, the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from Phi Theta Kappa and the National Pacesetter Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations in 2019 and 2020. In the coming years, Dr. Ash intends to remain open to new opportunities in the field.
