LONDON, ON, May 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- April Jackson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Jackson is renowned as a tailor and alterations specialist with more than 30 years of sewing expertise. A graduate of Lambton-Kent Composite School, she completed honors coursework in arts and mathematics before beginning to sew professionally. Walking into a tailor's shop looking for work at the age of 21, she was offered an apprenticeship by the owner, who was planning to retire soon thereafter. After nine months of study, Ms. Jackson purchased the shop, which she would operate until 2005.
From 2010 to 2016, Ms. Jackson worked as an administrative assistant for Columbia Sportswear. She further flourished for a year as a stylist for David's Bridal before establishing Jackson Sewing and Academy in 2017. By 2019, Ms. Jackson had developed a 21-hour sewing curriculum encapsulating her professional experience in drapery, formalwear, bridal alterations and sportswear. Ms. Jackson strives to contribute to the development and elevation of the dressmaking trade and is currently working on producing and securing sponsors for a proposed Ontario dressmaking competition, Gown Wars. Whether Gown Wars remains a local event or blooms into the next television competition show, April's goal of opening up the sewing trades and re-igniting the passion for the skills will be accomplished. She attributes her success to working through fear, as well as to taking others' advice with a grain of salt.
