Mr. Leak, a retired Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army who served in active duty between 1976 and 1977 and in the Reserves until 2016, now works at Anderson University. Hired by his alma mater as a resident director in 1987, he later became the director of academic advisement and associate registrar. He also founding head coach of Anderson University women's soccer team, which he coached from 1992 to 2000. Today, Mr. Leak excels as a university registrar, a position he has held since 1996. In this role, he is responsible for supporting faculty with curriculum development, processes and procedures and maintaining academic records.
Leading his community, Mr. Leak has long been an associate minister of the Friendship Baptist Church and The Sherman Street Church of God. He served on the board of directors of the Christian Center Mission in Anderson, the board of trustees of the Anderson Public Library, Sakima District of the Boys Scout of America and as the president of the board of directors of the Community Hospital in Anderson. Mr. Leak is completing his sixth term as a member of the Edgewood, Indiana Town Council and in 2017 he was appointed as an U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador by the Chief of the Army Reserves.
An alumnus of Anderson University, Mr. Leak received a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. He later acquired a Master of Science in management at Indiana Wesleyan University in 1992. While working toward these degrees, Mr. Leak was a sales manger for a local shoe company and a district scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Anderson.
Heavily involved in professional organizations pertinent to his work, Mr. Leak is a member and former state representative of the National Academic Advising Association, a nonprofit, international educational association of individuals engaged in the work of academic advising, and a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. Other memberships include the Anderson Noon Lions where he served as the president from 1993 to 1994, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, the Disabled Veterans of America, the Association of the United States Army and the Anderson Morning Rotary Club. Named Coach of the Year by the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1997, Mr. Leak is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in the 54th edition of Who's Who in America and the 26th edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.
