Tyler Muto is now the owner and training director of K9 Connection Training Day Care & Grooming, in Buffalo, NY, where he specializes in rehabilitating dogs with behavioral problems.

Shortly after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 2006, Mr. Muto found his calling when he began an apprenticeship with Positive K9, Inc., in Rochester, NY, where he assisted dog training staff with the in-board training program for all breeds of dogs. He quickly moved on to working independently with dogs under the owner's supervision.
Possessed of a love for canines and a knack for helping others, he knew he would excel on a career path where he was able to serve others by working with dogs.
Mr. Muto is now the owner and training director of K9 Connection Training Day Care & Grooming, in Buffalo, NY, where he specializes in rehabilitating dogs with behavioral problems. Starting the company out of his own vehicle in 2007, while also working as a veterinary assistant, the company has grown exponentially. By 2010, Mr. Muto was receiving national and international attention for his training videos. Since then, he has been regularly asked to teach dog training seminars and speak at conferences throughout the United States and internationally, coaching professionals in order to help elevate quality training provided on an industry level.
Bringing K9 Connection to its current location in 2011, Mr. Muto continued to grow the company, and between 2012 and 2017, worked to establish organizational systems for the training and rehabilitation programs and hired and trained more employees. Today, K9 Connection has come to represent the gold standard for dog behavior and rehabilitation. Mr. Muto continues to develop training strategies, coaches a staff of more than 10 employees, and guides a team of five dog trainers and behavior specialists.
Mr. Muto has also developed a partnership with a local veterinarian that operates across the street from his building. Additionally, he has provided a number of pro bono services through K9 Connection. Working with various nonprofit animal rescues and shelters, he helps them with the training and rehabilitation of dogs who are at risk for euthanasia due to behavior concerns. He also offers pro bono workshops and clinics for the volunteers of such organizations to equip their teams with the necessary skills to prepare dogs for reintroduction to society and placement in permanent homes.
In 2018, Mr. Muto founded Consider the Dog, a digital media production and distribution company that makes educational videos about canine behavior. He is an instructor and production supervisor. Making instructional videos, the company recruits leading industry professionals to work as instructors. In addition, the company organizes and oversees the on-location filming of various seminars and workshops on dog behavior. Mr. Muto has also written and produced online courses for other organizations.
From 2013 to 2018, Mr. Muto served two consecutive terms on the board of directors for the International Association of Canine Professionals, in addition to being voted vice president of the board from 2013 to 2016 and president from 2016 to 2018. He was notably the youngest person to hold the title of president. His other involvements within the organization include redesigning their website, streamlining the membership process, spending time as the founder and chair of the legislative committee, serving as board oversight to the service dog committee, and overseeing various other volunteer committees and task forces, as well as the planning of the annual educational conference.
Mr. Muto's professional achievements have earned him much recognition throughout his career. He received the President's Award from the International Association of Canine Professionals in 2014 and was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Buffalo chapter of the Small Business Administration in 2012. In the future, Mr. Muto aspires to continue focusing on influencing the industry as a whole, and doing so in such a way that he can spend more time with his friends and family.
