After completing residencies at the Atlanta Hospital and Medical Center, as well as the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. DeLauro embarked upon his professional journey in academia. He excelled in various academic and administrative capacities (departmental chairperson and as Academic Dean) at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. In addition to his work in private practice, Dr. DeLauro was bestowed with the distinguished title of a professor emeritus in the department of medical sciences and surgical sciences in 2019.
As a dedicated podiatrist, Dr. DeLauro has offered his expertise to the field as an editor of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, a co-editor of an industry textbook and by contributing articles to professional journals and chapters. For his accomplishments in his career, he received the Dr. Leon Goldman Memorial Award in Biochemistry. In order to remain aware of developments affecting his field, Dr. DeLauro maintains his professional affiliation with several pertinent organizations. To wit, he is a member of the American College of Foot Orthopedists, the American College of Podopediatrics, the American Society of Podiatric Medicine, the American Society of Podiatric Dermatology, the American College of Podiatric Radiologists and the American College of Foot Surgeons, among others.
