Her interest in hairstyling began as a child, as she recalls being drawn to the profession as a way to connect with others and help them feel better. Raised in a family of entrepreneurs, Ms. Huston describes herself as "addicted" to the challenges and rewards of small business ownership, and found her professional path to have been a natural fit for her goals and talents.
Initially studying vocational cosmetology, Ms. Huston began her career at the Blue Door Salon in Sacramento, Ca. Furthering her career she managed Supercuts, which launched her career into salon management.
Ms. Huston further flourished as a District Manager for Opal Concepts, a multi salon chain, managing 13 salons and expanding into Las Vegas, Nevada. She then served for several years as a Business Development and Training Manager for Redken 5th Avenue, NYC. Ms. Huston considers her time with Redken to be a defining moment in her career, as she was professionally "skyrocketing" and had been subsequently presented with her first opportunities to mentor young professionals and help them craft their own futures. She opened Adagio For Hair salon in 2013. Within 5 years of opening, the salon was very busy and successful, achieving the award for "Best Hair Salon" in the area each year since 2015.
In the coming years, Ms. Huston hopes to transition to an educational or mentorship role, and use her salon as the home base for a workshop or classroom opportunity for emerging beauty professionals. She has contributed her wealth of knowledge to Lavish Living Magazine and Modern Salon, and was featured on the cover of Salon Today Magazine in support of an editorial piece about healthy hairdresser habits. She additionally supports her community as a volunteer for numerous charity benefit events and fashion shows. A member of the Professional Beauty Association and the Summit Salon Organization, Ms. Huston supports the El Dorado chapter of Advocates for Children who have been displaced from their families.
