KESWICK, VA, May 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present William J. Rowe, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, William J. Rowe celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Long fascinated with medicine, Dr. Rowe has garnered a laudable reputation for his expertise as an internist and cardiologist. Attending the University of Cincinnati, he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Medicine in 1950 and 1954, respectively, after which he became a diplomate through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Beginning his career as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Medical University of Ohio at Toledo, he subsequently served as the chairperson of the department of medicine at Saint Vincent's Hospital, as well as the chief advisor of the committee for cardiac rehabilitation on behalf of the Northwest Ohio Heart Association. Retiring in 1993, Dr. Rowe pivoted his research interests toward magnesium deficiency and the effects of microgravity on the body.
Dr. Rowe has contributed over the last two decades to extensive research on long space missions, gene therapy, magnesium and the cardiovascular system's reaction to extended space flight. He has also conducted studies to show how the aging process might be slowed by correcting magnesium deficits. All of his publications and research were derived from information on the internet. Additional investigation has also showed how particulate matter released from iron brakes is conducive to both hypertension and heart attacks, and that four of the astronauts who returned from the moon – including Neil Armstrong – showed abnormal cardiac function. As a respected voice in the field, Dr. Rowe is credited as the first to publish that adrenaline levels are elevated in space, and the first to publish that extraordinary, unremitting endurance exercise can injure a normal heart. He also discovered two space flight syndromes: The Apollo 15 Space Syndrome and the Neil Armstrong Syndrome.
In addition to his explorations in the field, Dr. Rowe has also published numerous articles on behalf of various professional journals. Throughout his career, he has contributed to such scholarly publications as Acta Astronautica, Lancet, Circulation and the International Journal of Impact Research. He also authored an editorial about space flight and lunar dust hypertension. To remain fluent in the field, Dr. Rowe maintains his professional affiliation with the British Interplanetary Society, the American College of Nutrition, the National Space Society and the American Medical Association.
