Gladys Waters is renowned as an artist working primarily in figurative oils and charcoal paintings.
REDDING, CA, May 22, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gladys Waters has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Gladys Waters is renowned as an artist working primarily in figurative oils and charcoal paintings. Her father Luis E. Celedon, was a talented artist, and while she grew up surrounded by his work, she was not inspired to paint until she was in her 60's. She began taking painting classes as a pastime when she discovered her talent for the medium. Gladys is also a member of Women of Vision, an organization that supports entrepreneurship and local business owners.
Ms. Waters has been notable listed as Emerging Artist by the Shasta County Arts Council. Her exceptional work has been featured in solo shows in Redding, as well as the Colombian Consulate in San Francisco. Another solo show took place in Weaverville, at the Main Street Gallery. Moreover, she was recognized as a finalist in the 33rd Annual Painting Exhibition at the North Valley Art Gallery. She participated in the international competition, Luxembourg art prize, in 2019.
In 2020, Gladys Waters participated in a show named "Awakening" performed by the Stefan Baumann's art students group. She was also invited by Shasta County to paint for local children at the Anderson Library in April but it had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Gladys will also continue to feature her work this year, in a solo exhibition at the Shasta County Office of Education, once it reopens.
Gladys describes her work as inspired by "nature, love, smiles and daily life" and has been acclaimed for her fanciful, deeply saturated use of color. Looking for the future, she hopes to continue refining her skills and studying with the renowned artist Stefan Baumann.
