For four decades, Dr. James Everett Croley III has presided over his own ophthalmology practice while specializing in cataract surgery.

While coming of age, he aspired to become an eye doctor, driven by the desire to help others with their vision problems. The pursuit of this career led him to Cumberland College, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry, after which he received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami in 1976. The Cataract and Refractive Institute of Florida is a full-service eye treatment facility that offers LASIK services, eyelid lifts, cataract and refractive surgery, and medical eye exams for glasses and contacts. Dr. Croley also serves as the medical director of a telemedicine consultation company, which he established.
As a leader in his field, Dr. Croley is credited with developing electronic medical records for computer use in doctors' offices. In addition to his primary professional appointments, he likewise serves on a hospital pharmacy board and was previously named as a house staff representative and chief resident during his residency at the University of Alabama Eye Foundation Hospital. In order to further develop his skills in ophthalmology, Dr. Croley has also traveled overseas to consult with other professionals in the field and promote the development of eye care.
Well-regarded as a writer in his field, Dr. Croley has explored the interconnectivity of medical skill and religious philosophies as the author of the book "Believing is Seeing: Focus Through a God-Centered Paradigm." An avid community advocate, he previously served in various roles with the Florida Society of Ophthalmology and provided voluntary surgery for those without insurance through the Lions Club. He remains aware of happenings in his field through his affiliation with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Florida Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Florida Lions Eye Clinic. Looking toward the future, Dr. Croley hopes to venture into a medical director position with a new company based in the Silicon Valley neighborhood of California.
