In 1981, Dr. Schupp began his career as an assistant member of the Center for Psychiatry Reichenau, departing in 1982 for a two-year residency at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich. He was additionally active as a member of the department of neurology at Fachklinik Enzensberg from 1984 to 1986. Dr. Schupp further flourished in practice at the Neurological University Clinic in Munich from 1986 to 1987.
Dr. Schupp returned to the Fachklinik Enzensberg in 1987, with which he served as the medical vice head of the department of neurology until 1990. In 1990, he advanced to the position of the medical head of neurology at the Fachklinik Enzensberg. In 1996, Dr. Schupp was appointed as the head of neurology at the Fachklinik Herzogenaurach, where he remains in practice to this day.

Most recently, he contributed his research to "Return to Work in Neurological Diseases," published in 2014, and "Job Oriented Medical Rehabilitation," published in 2006. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Schupp provides his professional expertise to dozens of private and public healthcare institutions as an advisor and consultant.
Dr. Schupp's additional posts have included the Bavarian Network Rehabilitation Reserve's managerial board, the German Association of Public Work Accident Insurance, and an associate membership in the Center for Neuromuscular Diseases, among many others. Likewise, he was a personal delegate to the assembly of the European Academy of Neurology from 2015 to 2019. Dr. Schupp remains a member of the German Society for Neurology, the German Society for Neurorehabilitation, where he presided the Annual Meetings in 2012 and 2018 and the German Stroke Society.
