Recruited from Fresno Community Hospital and Medical Center, where she worked for nearly 15 years as a staff nurse and charge nurse on the rehabilitation floor, she subsequently held the roles of a floor nurse, assistant head nurse and occasional substitute head nurse in San Joaquin. Motivated chiefly by her ability to touch people's lives and make a difference, Ms. Martin especially enjoyed working in the acute rehabilitation center as a rehabilitation nurse.
An avid civic advocate, Ms. Martin is active with her local church's food bank as a volunteer. She also raises money by selling items at yard sales to support local causes. Additionally, Ms. Martin is active as a member of Friends of Pinedale, a community association in Pinedale, California.
Ms. Martin attained a Bachelor of Science at Northwest Missouri State University in 1964. She proceeded to undertake postgraduate coursework before obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Martin is a registered nurse (RN) and certified rehabilitation registered nurse (CRRN).
To support her career, Ms. Martin has been a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. Recognized for her commitment to the field, she was named as the Nurse of the Year by the Fresno Community Hospital and was twice named as the Employee of the Year by the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Martin has been highlighted in the fifth edition of Who's Who in American Nursing.
