Prior to his current position, Mr. Corcoran first served as a law clerk to Judge Adrian Burke for the New York Court of Appeals, beginning in 1971, an assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and as the deputy chief of the Criminal Division of the Eastern District of New York.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Mr. Corcoran has maintained involvement as an adjunct professor at Saint John's University School of Law, where he teaches federal practice. He has been admitted to practice law before New York state courts, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. To prepare for his prolific career, Mr. Corcoran pursued formal education at Saint Francis College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1968. Continuing his education, he attended Saint John's University School of Law, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1971 as a Saint Thomas More Scholar.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Corcoran has maintained his professional affiliation with several law-related organizations, such as the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York Council of Defense Lawyers and the New York State Bar Association. Likewise, he is a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Council. Mr. Corcoran attributes his standout success to his drive to succeed, noting that it is gratifying to perform his work and do it well.
A fourth generation lawyer, Mr. Corcoran's own children have followed his career path into the field of legal services. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, he has also contributed his expertise to written works. In light of his exceptional achievements in law, Mr. Corcoran has accrued numerous accolades.
