Born and educated in China, Mr. Liu relocated to the United States of America to teach. At the beginning of his career he gained valuable expertise first in China's foreign aid programs and then as a social scientist, associate research fellow and deputy director of the Department of Global Ethnic Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He also served as a deputy secretary-general for the Chinese Association for Global Ethnic Studies. He came to the US, first as a Fulbright Professor to Oregon State University, and then as a visiting associate professor to DePaul University. He was conferred as an honorary fellow with the Society of Applied Anthropology and became a member of the American Anthropological Association. He facilitated several Sino-American cultural and academic exchanges.
Currently, Mr. Liu channels years of expertise into numerous roles. In addition to becoming designated as an honorary president of Tough Dragon Academy of Calligraphy and Painting in Harbin, China, he has served as an adjunct associate professor for DePaul University. He is now the general manager and co-owner of Alimentotherapy Research & Development Enterprise. A cultural and medical anthropologist, he also excels as the president of Health King Enterprise & Balanceuticals Group, Inc. In all of his current endeavors, Mr. Liu focuses on bringing the best health foods and dietary supplements based on traditional Chinese medicine and nutrition to the masses.
An expert in his field, Mr. Liu earned an undergraduate degree in English and English and American literature from Heilongjiang University. Subsequently he obtained a Master of Art in anthropology and South Asian studies from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences & Peking University under the tutelage of Dr. Youyi Li, an outstanding anthropologist and well-known Tibetologist in China.
Due to his considerable expertise in the field, Mr. Liu has provided his wealth of knowledge as a popular speaker on cultures, health and nutrition. He has also contributed to a plethora of publications, including the United States' "Encyclopedia of Medical Anthropology," China's "World Peoples and Cultures Series", "Chinese Encyclopedia", "Chinese Lexicon (Cihai)", "A Missing Link: Preparing Patient for Medication", "Basics in Traditional Chinese Medicine", "Tea in Chinese Culture", "White Robe and White Cap: Identity Crises of Traditional Chinese Medicine."
