As a child growing up in Nigeria, Dr. Newlin was inspired by the work of doctors and nurses in medical missions. With inspiration and encouragement from her parents, she pursued a career in the medical field. In pursuit of her aspirations, Dr. Newlin completed coursework in pre-medicine at the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Soon thereafter, she earned her medical degree from University College Hospital, Ibadan before relocating to the United States to pursue an internship and residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Upon completion of her training, Dr. Newlin began as an Attending Family Physician with Benhaven Medical Center in 2010. Two years later, she flourished as a Family Physician with Triad Health and Pediatric Medicine between 2012 and 2016. Dr. Newlin has subsequently excelled as a Physician with Cone Health Medical Group, where she specializes in Preventative Medicine, Chronic Care Management and Integrated Care; she has been instrumental in commencing the Transitional Care Clinic. Dr. Newlin currently serves as the Lead Physician for the Cone Health Community Health and Wellness Center and Renaissance family Medicine where she passionately leads her team to provide quality care for marginalized and underserved populations. Additionally, she is involved in Precepting Medical and Nurse Practitioner students. She is currently certified as a Medical Examiner for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Newlin is a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Newlin is affiliated with the North Carolina Medical Society, the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. A champion of the elderly, she contributes to those in need as a volunteer with Community Health fairs at PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), which provides community-based services to enrolled members who need medical care and support in order to continue living at home. She has partnered with local athletic programs to provide sports physicals at no charge to participants and continues to volunteer with her church.
