FORT WORTH, TX, August 06, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Val Gokenbach has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued nearly 45 years of inimitable experience in her area of expertise, Ms. Gokenbach has garnered a laudable reputation as the current vice president and chief nursing officer of Baylor Scott and White Health since 2016. As part of her responsibilities, she operates the entire nursing division of a large hospital, and is responsible for all aspect of the nursing organization including leadership development, nursing operations, quality and service.
Ms. Gokenbach began her professional journey as a dancer, possessed of the goal to perform professionally on stage. As she worked toward this goal, a friend convinced her to pursue nursing, due in large part to the fact that the profession's flexible hours would allow her to continue dancing while also earning a living as a nurse. Receiving a scholarship to attend nursing school, Ms. Gokenbach became enamored with the profession of nursing.
Before entering the field, Dr. Gokenbach pursued a formal education at Wayne State University, from which she attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration in 1987 and 1988, respectively. Transferring to the University of Phoenix, she earned a Doctor of Management in organizational leadership in 2004. Dr. Gokenbach continued teaching dance and exercise classes at her dance studio, but soon switched her career focus to nursing administration, which she found to be more fulfilling. She is a well-known expert on leadership topics and has written several texts on leadership in business and healthcare, as well as her original passion of tap dancing. She also has taught in several Universities.
Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Gokenbach has been most proud to have helped her organizations achieve the coveted Magnet designation, a recognition of the highest standards for nursing quality from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Only a very small number of hospitals in the world share in this accomplishment. She was also a Magnet Commissioner for 6 years. In accounting for her standout success, she credits her propensity for lifelong learning. To remain aware of developments effecting her field, she maintains her professional affiliation with the American Nurses Association and other healthcare associations. Looking toward the future, Dr. Gokenbach aspires to continue her writing. She would also like to return to public speaking in order to expand her professional network and go back to leadership consulting.
