Thomas P. Ragukonis is the founder and Medical Director of Bergen Pain Management. Over the past 25 years, he has developed Bergen Pain Management into a premiere minimally invasive pain management practice with emphasis on minimally invasive spinal techniques. Even though his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially honored to have been involved in the development of multiple outpatient surgical facilities, with the most recent being New Century Spine & Outpatient Surgical Institute, where he is Medical Director. Driven by a lifelong desire to become a physician, Dr. Ragukonis pursued a career in the field of medicine. Throughout his career, he has gained valuable expertise and he is recognized as a national leader in Neuromodulation, specializing in Spinal Cord Stimulation. His focus is on minimally invasive spine intervention so his patients can feel better, quicker, without long hospital stays and recovery times.
In pursuit of his aspirations, Dr. Ragukonis earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended the Rutgers Medical School (UMDNJ), where he graduated in 1991 having obtained his degree as a Medical Doctor. He attended the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, where he completed his residency. Dr. Ragukonis is board certified in pain management, pain medicine and anesthesiology.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Ragukonis has authored articles and papers for a myriad of publications, including "Shoulder Surgery in the Sitting Position under Interscalene Block: The Use of Plain Local Anesthetic Solutions Reduces the Incidence of Vasovagal Reactions," "Early Sign of Successful Bupivicaine Interscalene Block" and "The Cutting Edge of Regional Anesthesia," which was presented at Bergen Medical Center. For his professional accomplishments, he has been consistently recognized by NJ Top Doc, Jersey's Best Top Docs and Castle Connelly for 2021.
