Mr. Stewart, a principal and senior project manager in Gresham Smith's Water + Environment Market, has earned distinction with his firm since 2006. He previously worked for GRW Engineers as a junior engineer between 1997 and 2000 where he found initial success, and later held roles with BWSC Inc. and GRW Elrod Dunson Inc. in Nashville. Just prior to joining Gresham Smith, Mr. Stewart held a position as an engineer with Metro-Nashville Water Services in Nashville.
Specializing in water and wastewater systems design, including hydraulics, distribution and collection, and treatment, Mr. Stewart credits much of his success on building strong relationships with his co-workers, which has made a profound impact on his career. In addition to the support of his colleagues, he has been fortunate to have many great mentors, including Ken Baker, Ron Abraham and John Reidy, who greatly influenced his ability to build client and team relationships, as well as his project management skills. Inspired by their example, Mr. Stewart now mentors and coaches younger engineers, in addition to his work responsibilities, in his own effort to continue shaping the future of the industry, which requires an abiding dedication to hard work and commitment.
A dedicated civic advocate on behalf of his community, Mr. Stewart is a member of his local church's Administrative Council, a participant in the church's Room in the Inn Ministry, a monthly Sunday school teacher, and chairperson of the staff-parish committee. He has also been aligned with the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1987. In his avocational pursuits, Mr. Stewart is an avid woodworker and enjoys visiting our national parks.
Mr. Stewart received both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering at Tennessee Technological University in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He is a registered professional engineer in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. To support his professional endeavors, he is an active member of the American Water Works Association.
