Drawing upon a lifelong love of chemistry, Mr. Aronson pursued a career in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2004, he joined VAMC in Rhode Island as a clinical staff pharmacist, a post in which he verified physicians' orders and maintained responsibility for discharging and counseling patients. Mr. Aronson also worked as a staff hospital pharmacist for Boston Medical Center between 1996 and 2002. He was also a union steward for the pharmacy department while he was employed at both Boston City Hospital and Boston Medical Center. His position tasked him with handling grievances between management and employees when it appeared management was violating articles of the union contract.
During the earliest years of his career, Mr. Aronson gained valuable expertise in a similar position with Boston City Hospital, with which he served from the mid-1970s until the late 1990s. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of assisting management. Devoted to his community, Mr. Aronson contributes to those in need as a volunteer trainer in the pharmaceutical industry.
In light of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Aronson recently accepted the I-Care Award. Notably, there was a blizzard on a day when he had to work at Boston City Hospital in 1978. No buses and trains were running, so he walked through the snow in order to tend to his daily duties. For his dedication to his patients, Mr. Aronson received a Commendation from Boston City Hospital for his exemplary work.
An expert in his field, Mr. Aronson earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy in 1972. He remains aware of changes in the field through his alignment with the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association, the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Even though retired, Mr. Aronson will remain open to new opportunities.
