Having accrued more than 35 years of inimitable expertise in his field, Mr. Petruno garnered a laudable reputation as a the owner of Corporate Loss Prevention Services from 1989 until his retirement in 1991, during which time he served as the chief executive officer and treasurer. Prior to entering business for himself, he contributed for nearly two decades on behalf of Revco, D.S. Inc. as its vice president of security. Located in Twinsburg, Ohio, Revco was a well-known drug store chain that served the regions of the Ohio Valley, the Mid-Atlantic states and the southeastern United States. Mr. Petruno likewise held positions with the Weatherhead Company as a manager of office services, and the City of Cleveland as a director of a recreation center.
Additionally, Mr. Petruno served Cleveland's maiden entry into the National Basketball Association (NBA), as their statistician, beginning in 1970. Even though he formally retired a decade later, Mr. Petruno was honored by Cavaliers ownership to return as the official game statistician for the 1985 NBA All-Star game in Richfield, Ohio. That distinction capped a celebrated career which found him in football, basketball, and baseball leadership roles for more than 35 years.
Mr. Petruno studied at Dyke College, Case Western Reserve University, Reid State Technical College and the University of North Carolina between 1968 and 1984. While attending college, he undertook extensive law enforcement coursework and was subsequently able to acquire several positions in the field of security. Mr. Petruno also had the opportunity to serve the field in other capacities, including as the chairperson of the security committee of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants between 1978 and 1987.
An avid community advocate, Mr. Petruno was active on the Bar Association of Greater Cleveland's crime task force. Likewise, he served for two years in the U.S. Army, during which he advanced to the rank of a corporal. Furthermore, he was appointed to the role of a sandlot baseball ambassador in the Baseball Heritage Museum in Cleveland's Historic League Park, which is the former home of the Cleveland Indians. In this capacity, Mr. Petruno was responsible for ensuring that all photographs, uniforms, letters and memorabilia were available for display at the museum.
To honor his military career as a U.S. war veteran, Mr. Petruno is a member of the American Legion. Named as an Editorialized Cleveland Plain Dealer in 1963, he has also been recognized as a Manager of the Year by the Cleveland Baseball Federation in 1970. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Petruno has been featured in the 27th and 28th editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
