Holding a Bachelor of Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Mr. Pisik began his career in computer consulting and IT support and services. Upon moving into his first apartment, he began constructing wooden racks and shelves to store his appliances. Over time he honed his skills and developed new construction techniques. Long possessed of a deep appreciation of art and design, he soon began to incorporate totally unique designs into his creative process and focused on creating one-of-a-kind art pieces. Presently, Mr. Pisik owns Pisik Consulting and Doug Pisik Wood Art.
As a dedicated artist, Mr. Pisik creates unique creations from wood. His work includes movable sculptures, art boxes, wall pieces and large outdoor installations. Most recently he created a series of "Art for our Unique Times" consisting of works in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He often creates customized commissions for clients, gallery showpieces and museum exhibitions. Most recently, Mr. Pisik presented the Gallery Exhibition of Doug Pisik Wood Artist at the Taylor Kinzel Gallery of Fine Art, which featured his sculptures, art boxes, and wall pieces in wood.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Pisik has received numerous accolades for his exceptional work. He is currently exhibiting a collaborative wood and glass sculpture in the Metro Montage Art Exhibit at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art which is his 14th museum exhibition, and he has been classified as a Master Woodworker by the Woodworking Guild of Georgia. Mr. Pisik has shared his knowledge as a speaker at the prestigious WorkbenchCon maker conference, radio interviews, and numerous guild events. Among all of his accolades, Mr. Pisik was most proud of an early unique art piece he created which was both shown in a museum juried exhibit and won first place at a showing in 2003.
Civically, Mr. Pisik has been an active member of his community for several years. He previously served as the committee chair of Partnership in Education with Home Depot, a resource investment committee member of United Way of Greater Atlanta, a corporate liaison for TechBridge and a volunteer coordinator for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Currently, he serves as a board member of the Terminus Modern Ballet Theater. For his community work, Mr. Pisik has honored as a torchbearer for the 1996, 2002 and 2004 Olympics. He was also named among the Top 25 Volunteers in 25 years by Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Pisik attributes his professional and civic success to his continued drive for perfection. He maintains his affiliation with the Woodworkers Guild of Georgia, the American Craft Council and the Project Management Institute. In the coming years, Mr. Pisik hopes to be considered for more prominent museum collections. He would also like to have his work placed in spaces that are more public so it may be appreciated by a wider audience.
