Ms. Allanson also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Smart training & Consulting Group Pty/Ltd, a vocational education and training provider offering programs in aged care, business, hospitality, and management.
Ms. Allanson, a Registered Nurse is additionally active as a conjoint fellow in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at the University of Newcastle. During the 1980's and 90's, Ms Allanson gained valuable experience in the field as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Royal Newcastle Hospital and as Deputy Director of Nursing for Greenhills Nursing Home. Toward the end of her tenure at the Royal Newcastle Hospital, Ms. Allanson successfully led the evacuation of the hospital which was under threat due to the Newcastle Earthquake. This has now been recognized as a significant achievement in various history books as featured in the Newcastle Museum and Oral History records.
Over the years, Ms. Allanson has honed her skills in the field through a number of executive positions with Hunter Business Chamber, Aged & Community Services Australia and the International Association of Homes & Services for the Aged. A standout in her field, she has been further recognized among her peers through administrative roles across the health and business sector. Ms. Allanson remains aware of changes in the field of leadership through her affiliation with the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Global Ageing Network, the Ageing Asia Alliance and the Hunter Business Chamber, to name a few organisations.
In pursuit of her aspirations, Ms. Allanson earned a general nursing certificate from Hunter TAFE in 1979. Subsequently, she obtained a diploma in nursing administration in 1985 and a Master of Health Services Management from the University of Newcastle in 1994. Viv is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and obtained a certificate from the Prince of Wales Business and Sustainability program at the University of Cambridge. Additionally, Ms. Allanson has completed People Management at the Disney Institute and has obtained various health related qualifications and recognitions.
Devoted to her community, Ms. Allanson contributes to those in need as an active member of Not for Profit Connect, Liberty Baptist Church, Gotcha Back Sista and Divas on the Green. She is further associated with Liberty Storehouse, with which she participates as a member of the planning and operational team. For more than 30 years, Ms. Allanson has also conducted missionary work in India, the Philippines, China, Mongolia, South America and South Africa.
Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Ms. Allanson is regularly invited as a guest speaker at forums, meetings and conferences including the National Australia Bank International Women's Day in 2015. In light of her professional excellence, she was recognized as the Australian CEO of the Year in 2016, and honored as the CEO of the Year in Retirement Care by Corporate USA Today. Accepting Legal 100 Awards in 2018, she was presented with the ACQ5's Gamechanger of the Year Award in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
