A veteran of the U.S Army Nurse Corps, Mr. Heitzmann has found further success as a freight and shipping professional who celebrates nearly 10 years of excellence in each of his fields. He began his nursing education at Northern Virginia Community College, earning an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Applied Sciences in nursing. He continued his studies at George Mason University, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006. Mr. Heitzmann enlisted in the United States Army soon thereafter, serving as a registered nurse at the Walter Reed Medical Center.
Initially, Mr. Heitzmann joined the Walter Reed Medical Center as a first lieutenant for an adult medical general ward, but was promoted to the rank of captain in 2009, and dedicated the next three years of his career to the adult cardiothoracic step-down ward. He considers his promotion to captain to be one of his professional highlights and was proud to continue to serve in that capacity. In 2010, he was transferred to San Antonio, where he completed service as an emergency nurse for the U.S. Army until his military retirement in 2012. Mr. Heitzmann continued to work in nursing in the civilian sector as a supervisor for HCR ManorCare of San Antonio until 2013, at which point he shifted his focus toward freight and logistics.
In 2013, Mr. Heitzmann accepted a freight handler and loading position with Lowe's, with which he handles a variety of shipping and merchandise transfer functions at an individual store level. During this time, he pursued continuing education credentials, becoming an MCAT certified aircraft electronics technician in 2019, and graduated, summa cum laude, from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance with a certificate in airframe and power plant management in early 2020. Increasingly interested in engineering, electrical work, and logistics, Mr. Heitzmann is devoted to broadening his skills in these areas and identifying potential areas of improvement.
In additional service to his community, Mr. Heitzmann is active as a volunteer for his local fire department. He attributes his success to being well-rounded and committed to reaching his potential in any one of a number of fields. In the coming years, Mr. Heitzmann hopes to attain a management position in the electrical or shipping logistics industries.
