A seasoned consultant and corporate chef, Ms. Bean began her career in the restaurant industry as the owner of the Coach & Six, a fine-dining steakhouse in Atlanta. At the age of 24, she updated the Atlanta institution under the microscope of some of the city's most esteemed industry experts. Backed by that expertise, Ms. Bean received an opportunity to work with her meat distributor Buckhead Beef, which subsequently allowed her to establish her own publication, Jezebel Magazine, later sold to Cumulus Media Inc.
Five years after its launching, Ms. Bean sold the aforementioned magazine, moving to Costa Rica, where she bought another restaurant by the name of La Taverna, a sports bar and restaurant seating 160 people. During her time in Costa Rica, she learned Spanish, absorbed Costa Rican culture and cuisine, and had the honor of cooking for Nobel Peace Prize winner President Oscar Arias. Additionally, Ms. Bean authored "Cooking for Mr. Right," which was published by Citadel Press in New York City.
More recently, Ms. Bean gained valuable expertise in restaurant management as the director of culinary development and purchasing for BB King Blues Clubs, for which she created the entire menu and was in charge of BB King's branding. During the first year after her menu change, BB King Blues experienced an increase of $600,000 in profits and was honored for the Best in Show for their BBQ sauce, which she created. Ms. Bean currently applies her vast expertise in the restaurant industry to her myriad of positions, including the president and owner of Mimi's Inc. through which she supervises construction and interior design projects in the U.S. and Central America.
Ms. Bean additionally excels as a U.S. manufacturer representative for Unison Asia Group designing new products for HSN with show host Colleen Lopez, the director of culinary concepts for Kessler Collection Hotels and both the chef and owner of Meals That Heal You, a post-surgery wellness catering company. Driven to remain aware of industry changes, she is affiliated with Great Chefs of America and the Chaine des Rotisseurs. Dedicated to her community, Ms. Bean contributes to those in need through the Georgia Riverkeeper, Captain Planet Foundation, Jane Fonda's G-CAPP, the road conservation committee in Costa Rica, the Ride for Kids' Sake and Dining Out for the March of Dimes, which both she founded.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Bean has been recognized many times over the years. She was notably presented with the Dining Out in Atlanta Award for the March of Dimes. Looking toward the future, Ms. Bean intends to continue consulting while remaining open to new opportunities.
