Gary Lotto, PhD, has been Inducted into the Marquis Who's Who Registry

Dr. Lotto has found success as a research psychologist, statistician and adjunct professor at Pace University

MOUNT KISCO, NY, September 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gary Lotto, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Gary celebrates more than 50 years of excellence in research psychology, corporate training, and education. Growing up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, he recalls his childhood as difficult, and he was inspired to become a psychologist as soon as he understood the value of that profession.

Gary was educated at Brooklyn College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1953, a Master of Science in Psychology and Statistics in 1956, a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh in 1958. He continued working at that University for the next 10 years as Head of Statistical Projects in the computing center while also consulting for American Institutes for Research on the use of computers in Project TALENT. Gary won several awards and published three academic papers on the subjects of correlation, regression, and stepwise regression in the journal Educational and Psychological Research during that 10 year period.

In 1963, Gary began a long career with IBM, where he would serve as a program manager until 1991. At IBM, his primary focus was experimental design, survey data collection, market research, and planning, drawing on his statistics and psychology background. He was also involved in the creation and implementation of numerous major projects during this time.

In 1984 until 1986, IBM granted him a community service leave for which he was selected to provide initial steps in building computerized patient records for the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. During this time he received additional clinical training through the Postgraduate Center, an honor that helped him broaden his practice. After he had retired from IBM in 1991 with nearly 30 years of service, he was granted Adjunct Professor status at Pace University in 1992. He remained on the faculty of Pace University for several years, teaching psychology and experimental research design.

Gary is proud to have created a diverse career path from his varied training. He cites the opportunity to have worked not just in general psychology, but in its experimental applications as a highlight of his professional ventures. He currently remains affiliated with the American Psychological Association.

Now retired, Gary volunteered and was trained by the Medicare Rights Center to help senior citizens understand Medicare and the options available. That program was taken over by the Westchester Library System, where he continues this volunteer work.
