WAXAHACHIE, TX, September 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present William Delano McLane with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. McLane celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A prominent figure in his field for more than five and a half decades, Mr. McLane retired from his role as the resident construction manager of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority (DART) in 2017, having distinguished himself for more than a decade participating in the construction of the largest transit system in America, in track miles. During the course of his successful career, he worked for various other organizations, including the Dallas County Community College District as a construction manager, STV, Inc. as the resident construction manager of the build-out of the DART Greenline, Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services, Inc. as a senior project manager of its airport services improvement program and the Parsons' Fort Worth Forth Worth Transportation Authority commuter rail project as a construction manager. Mr. McLane also held various mechanical and civil engineering roles with such companies as MK-Ferguson in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation in Toledo, Ohio and Temple-Inland Corporation, Diboll, Texas. His most recent accomplishment was to extend the DART Blueline to the University of North Texas-Dallas Campus as the Resident Construction Manager for Dikita Engineering.
Outside of his full-time commitments in his field, Mr. McLane maintained involvement on the advisory boards of several organizations, including the Guaranty Federal Bank and the Citizens National Bank in Waxahachie, Texas, and the City of Waxahachie Citizens Advisory Board. He also served in the same capacity for Texas State Technical College in Waco and for Navarro College. As part of his commitment to civic endeavors, Mr. McLane excelled as the Chairman of the Board of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce during 1977, and served on the Board of Directors on the Ellis County Extension Service and the Ellis County Water and Improvement District No. 1. Shortly thereafter, he was further associated as the secretary of the Waxahachie Independent School District's board of trustees between 1979 and 1988, and later became the vice chairperson of the Central Texas Economic Development District in Waco.
While serving as president of the Waxahachie Lions Club, Mr. McLane led the club in achieving the Top Ten Service Award out of 35,000 clubs in Lions International. During his tenure as Ellis County Commissioner, Mr. McLane provided oversight during the construction of the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, the rehabilitation of 63 condemned county bridges, and the extension of FM 1446. He served as the representative to the regional transportation council of North Texas Council of Governments, the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition and the Superconducting Super Collider Authority and was appointed by the Governor of Texas to serve on the Regional Review Committee.
In accounting for his success, Mr. McLane credits the influence of his father, who owned a farm tractor repair business while he came of age. Upon attending college, he originally planned to pursue a career in agricultural engineering, but ultimately received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1961. Mr. McLane is also a registered professional engineer through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and is a certified senior project manager and resident construction manager.
As a commitment to his field, Mr. McLane has been active with several industry-related organizations. Among them, he is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a past member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.
