OLIVE BRANCH, MS, September 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Dorothy Moore has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. While participating in an international talent show, Dr. Moore was noticed by a superintendent who requested that she work for them. Over the years, she has worked as a residential counselor for the Stanford Home for Girls and as a teacher for the handicapped at Sacramento Charter High School. Dr. Moore additionally gained valuable expertise as a reading improvement specialist for the Department of Oversea School System in Italy, the founder and chief executive officer of the Ceria M. Travis Academy, and the special education high school teacher, human relation liaison and district administrator for Milwaukee Public Schools.
Now retired, Dr. Moore parlays her expertise to others as an educational consultant specializing in special education, as well as children with behavioral and emotional issues. In a career filled with highlights, she is proud to have assisted a child between sixth grade and high school who eventually enlisted in the U.S. Army and called her to let her know the impact that she made on him, saying, "If I do not make it back, I would have never been the man you helped me to become." Another highlight in Dr. Moore's career was advocating on behalf of a high-school student that the system had failed.
An expert in her field, Dr. Moore initially earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin. Subsequently, she obtained a Master of Arts in psychology from Ball University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian council from Grace Theological Seminary. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Dr. Moore is the author of six books. Her latest book is called "The Passion to Educate: Moving Children from Potential to Performance."
In light of her professional excellence, Dr. Moore has been honored many times, having been presented with a Top Principal of Leadership Award, a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin, an Award from the Milwaukee Community Journal and an Outstanding Educator Award from Alpha Alpha Kappa. More recently, she accepted the Off the Shelf Award in 2019. In the near future, Dr. Moore intends to continue consulting and well as writing and teaching.
