With more than 45 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Wronka has excelled as a professor of social work at Springfield College in Massachusetts since 1992. He has also found success in a number of academic and service positions. He was, for example, an adjunct professor at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1989, an academic coordinator and instructor at Alaska Native Studies Honor Institute in Fairbanks, AK in 1987, director of human services at Copper River Native Association in Glennallen, AK from 1985 to 1986 and instructor at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks from 1984 to 1987. Additionally, he worked as a counselor of alcoholism and drug abuse for the Fairbanks Native Association from 1983 to 1984, an instructor of human services at Kotzebue Technology Center in Alaska from 1981 to 1982 and an associate staff psychologist at Brooklyn Psychiatric Centers from 1976 to 1980. From 1972 to 1974, Dr. Wronka began his career as an instructor at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA.
In addition to the above, Dr. Wronka flourished as an adjunct professor at Holy Cross College, visiting instructor at Framingham State College in Massachusetts, after previously serving as an adjunct professor at New York University, Chukchi Community College, Caldwell College, Saint Francis College, Ramapo College of New Jersey and Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, among numerous other prestigious academic institutions. He has taught social work part time in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. He also served as Principal Investigator for the Universal Declaration Human Rights Project, research associate and visiting scholar at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and as visiting fellow at the University of Delhi. He was also Representative to the United Nations for the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) at the United Nations in Geneva and New York. To remain aware of developments in his areas of interest, Dr. Wronka maintains his affiliation with such organizations as the International Association of Schools of Social Work, the American Association of University Professors, and the International Consortium for Social Development.
Highly-educated, Dr. Wronka began his studies at Brooklyn College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. He continued his academic efforts at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he earned a Master of Arts in 1972. Completing postgraduate study at the University of Nice in France, from 1974 to 1976, he later obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in social policy from Brandeis University, the Heller School in Waltham, MA, in 1992. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Wronka authored two books; Human Rights and Social Policy in the 21st Century: A History of the Idea of Human Rights and a Comparison of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights with United States Federal and State Constitutions and Human Rights and Social Justice: Social Action and Service for the Helping and Health Professions. In addition, his lectures The Dr. Ambedkar Lectures on the Theme Creating a Human Rights Culture were published in India.
A leader in his field, Dr. Wronka decided to pursue his career because he was inspired by his father's humanitarianism. Notably, he was selected as one of three hundred human rights activists to attend a commemoration event in Paris celebrating the 50th anniversary of the General Assembly's endorsement of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The recipient of a Fulbright scholarship in social work with emphases in poverty, social justice, human rights, phenomenology and psychology, from 2010 to 2015 and again in 2018-2021, Dr. Wronka went as a Fulbright scholar to Pakistan, Austria, and Greece. He was also featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World.
