Dr. Arlie V. Daniel earned the distinguished title of a professor emeritus at East Central University in 2010.

With more than 45 years of professional excellence to his credit, Dr. Daniel earned the distinguished title of a professor emeritus at East Central University in 2010. He previously flourished at the aforementioned academic institution as an Adolph Linscheid distinguished teaching professor from 2006 to 20012 and the director of speech education between 1981 and 2010. Dr. Daniel began his career as a high school teacher at Missouri Valley Public Schools from 1965 until 1968, and at Clinton Public Schools between 1971 and 1978.
Beginning his studies at Iowa Lakes Community College, Dr. Daniel earned an Associate in Arts in 1963. He continued his education at Morningside College, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. He later earned a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa in 1978. Following these accomplishments, he ultimately attained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Nebraska in 1981. Inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Central States Communications Association in 2010, Dr. Daniel was presented with the Teaching Excellence Award from East Central University in 1995.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Daniel co-authored such publications as "Creating Competent Communicators: Activities for Teaching, Speaking, Listening and Media Literacy in the K-12 Classroom" in 2003 and "Project Text for Public Speaking" in 1991. The editor of "Activities Integrating Oral Communication Skills for Students in Grades K-8" in 1992, he also contributed chapters in textbooks, including the "Basic Communication Course Annual" in 1994 and "Teaching and Directing the Basic Communication Course" in 1993. Notably, Dr. Daniel served in the United States Army as a first lieutenant from 1968 to 1971.
A remarkable leader, Dr. Daniel was the past district governor of the Rotary District 5770 of Rotary International from 2017 to 2018, which he previously served as an assistant district governor, vice president rotary chair, and chapter president. Likewise, he was the president of the Central States Communications Association from 1999 until 2000, having excelled as the vice president and executive director during the 1990s. Dr. Daniel also distinguished himself as the president of the Oklahoma Speech Theatre Communications Association between 1986 and 1987. He holds maintains his professional affiliation with a number of relevant organizations, including the American Association of University Professors, the Association of Teacher Educators, the International Communications Association, the National Communications Association and the honorable society of Pi Kappa Delta.
