Dr. Morooka is renowned as the board-certified chief of neurosurgery at the Morooka Neurosurgery and Pediatrics Clinic in Okayama, Japan. After earning a Doctor of Medicine from Okayama University in 1971, he pursued a five-year clinical assistantship at the aforementioned university from 1972 until 1977. Dr. Morooka graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy at Okayama University in 1978, and relocated to the United States, where he secured a prestigious neurology research assistant position at the University of Miami.
After completing his work at the University of Miami in 1980, Dr. Morooka returned to Japan, where he began teaching neurosurgery at Okayama University as an instructor and an assistant professor until the end of the 1986 academic year. Departing to focus on clinical and administrative work, he was appointed as the chief of neurosurgery at Okayama Rosai Hospital from 1987 until 1992. Having built a reputation for outstanding clinical abilities and management skills, Dr. Morooka would subsequently excel as the chief of neurosurgery at Bizen City Hospital and Okayama Saidaiji Hospital before establishing his own clinic in 2008, where he remains in clinical practice as the chief of neurosurgery.
Dr. Morooka's research has been extensively published, and he is the author of several medical textbooks, including "Intracranial Pressure VII" in 1989, "Medical Biochemical & Chemical Aspects of Free Radicals" in 1989, "Brain Edema IX" in 1993 and "Cytoprotection & Cytobiology," which published in a revised edition in 1997. Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards for his medical and educational excellence, including a 1981 National Research grant, a 2003 Distinguished Professor Award from the Institute for the Advancement of Positive Global Solutions and a 2005 United Cultural Convention Legion of Honor Award. As a leader in his specialty, Dr. Morooka is an active member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Chemical Society, the American Heart Association, the Japan Neurological Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
