With years of medical experience to her credit, Dr. Cassidy-Vu initially garnered inspiration for her professional future following her father's renal cell carcinoma diagnosis. Tragically, he succumbed to his illness and passed away despite the exemplary medical attention that he received. Wishing to prevent others from suffering through similar turmoil, Dr. Cassidy-Vu resolved to pursue a career in medicine.
After completing advanced placement coursework at Cleveland State University, Dr. Cassidy-Vu enrolled at John Carroll University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and philosophy, cum laude, in 1998. By 2002, she earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. Between 2002 and 2005, Dr. Cassidy-Vu conducted an internship and residency in family medicine through the Moses Cone Health System.
Following the conclusion of her fellowship in obstetrics and women's health with the Women's Hospital of Greensboro, Dr. Cassidy-Vu concluded her academic ventures by performing a fellowship through the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors' National Institute for Program Director Development. Regarding her qualifications, she retains a clinical laboratory improvement amendments certification, an implanon/nexplanon clinical trainer certification and an advanced life support in obstetrics certification, among several others. Throughout her career, Dr. Cassidy-Vu has worked as an after-hours physician, an associate medical staff member and an assistant professor with numerous agencies.
Currently, Dr. Cassidy-Vu excels as an assistant professor and the program director of residency in family medicine at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Likewise, she has cultivated a lauded reputation as an active member of the Forsyth Medical Center. Moreover, Dr. Cassidy-Vu offers her expertise on a number of committees with the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, including the program evaluation committee, the clinic improvement committee, the continuing medical education committee and the executive committee of the Wake Forest Women's Forum, to name a few.
Outside of her primary responsibilities, some of the organizations with which Dr. Cassidy-Vu volunteers include Shoulder to Shoulder, Delivering Equal Access to Care and the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. She also presides over the editorial boards for the Journal of Community Medicine Healthcare and the Family Physicians Inquiry Network. As a testament to her exemplary efforts, Dr. Cassidy-Vu has been honored with two Wake Forest Family Medicine Residency Outpatient Teaching Award, a Moses Cone System Practice Management Award and recognition among the Best Doctors in America for five consecutive years.
