Mr. Johnson's distinguished career, which has spanned over an incredible 60 years, included serving as co-founder and managing partner of Johnson and Norinsky Associates (2002-2008) and as managing partner of Webb Johnson Associates LLC, executive search consultants (1982-2002). He also served nearly 25 years at Benton & Bowles, Inc and its major advertising clients. First accepting a trainee position there in 1958, upon separation from active military duty, he advanced to the positions of Senior Vice President and Director. His 1954-1958 service as a Naval pilot in the active reserve found him primarily in the Far East with major focus in China-Formosa-South China Sea operations. As a young plane commander of the squadron CO's Plane One, he was often on special assignment.
In late 1957, he was transferred to Kwajalein Island to provide emergency amphibian aircraft support to Marshall Island AEC and Air Sea Rescue operations. These and other leadership experiences-the unclassified ones-are shared in a memoir published in 2018.
In addition to his full time commitments to his field, Mr. Johnson served as a trustee of Jacob Riis Settlement, the oldest settlement in NYC (1962-1968), director of Saint Christopher's-Jennie Clarkson (1970-1978), director of Children's Village-Dobbs Ferry (1975-1985) and trustee of The Healthcare Chaplaincy (1990s). Over varying years, focusing on his home town, Mr. Johnson served on the Scarsdale Planning Board and Board of Ethics, while also on the Scarsdale National Bank/Bank of NY board (1971-1993) and active at Church of St. James the Less (Warden 1990-1993). He and his wife Lynn were elected to the Parents Steering Committee at her alma mater, College of William & Mary (1993-1997) and were co-honorees of Scarsdale Historical Society annual Community Service award (1996).
Mr. Johnson pursued his studies at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, acquiring a Bachelor of Arts in 1954. He subsequently undertook GI Bill postgraduate coursework at New York University between 1958 and 1959, and is an active member of Winged Foot GC, Harbour Ridge YCC, and the Union League Club-New York. He was recently (2020) elected a Senior Advisor of the American Security Council Foundation.
In recognition of his military service, he was awarded five Ribbons, including National Defense, China Defense and Korea Defense Service. He remains in various church, military and family projects. He and Lynn have three grown children (Bill, Jim and Gayle) and eight grandkids.
