WILMINGTON, DE, December 8, 2020, Jeffery S. Sills has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having resolved to provide on behalf of his family, Mr. Sills aimed to learn more about finance, which set the stage for his career. During the 1970's and 1980s, he established a wholesale electric supply company, which is still operated by his two younger brothers, as well as a café that he previously owned with his ex-wife. Upon selling the café, Mr. Sills decided to step back from business and was hired by EF Hutton as an account executive in 1987.
Throughout the following two decades, Mr. Sills gained valuable expertise in finance in regional and national executive positions for such companies as Shearson Lehman, Smith Barney, US Fiduciary, USAA, Capital One and Woodbury Financial, where he began in 2018 as the regional vice president of the Capstone Group, specializing in acquisition integration and strategic transformations. Presently, he remains active with Woodbury Financial as the senior vice president of business and field development. Since obtaining the role in 2020, he has successfully managed the recruiting of new advisors, as well as mergers and acquisitions and the oversight of 1,600 field advisors, who report to 16 regional vice presidents. Though his career has been suffused with highlights, Mr. Sills is especially proud to have brought over 30 managing representatives from Capital One to work at Woodbury Financial.
Driven to pursue further education, Mr. Sills earned a Bachelor of Science in business and general management from the University of the Incarnate Word. Likewise, he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration in strategy and leadership at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware, which he completed in 2021. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Sills also became a chartered financial consultant from the American College, received a certification in financial planning from Rice University and became a certified financial planner through the CFP Board of Standards.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Sills aligns himself with the Financial Planning Association. Outside of his work, he also contributes as an advisory board member for the Delaware chapter of Teach for America, a trustee for the Wawaset Maintenance Corporation, and as the president of endowment and secretary and director for board of directors for Children and Families First. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sills intends to remain open to opportunities in the field of academia.
