Dr. Struyk contributed to The Urban Institute as the director of the Center for Housing and Community Development Research from 1981 to 1982, a senior research associate from 1980 to 1981 and a senior research associate from 1972 to 1977.
A former deputy assistant secretary for research at the Office of Policy Development and Research of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1977 to 1979, Dr. Struyk excelled as a visiting assistant professor of economics at Rice University from 1971 to 1972 and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research from 1968 to 1972. To prepare for his career, he pursued an education at Quincy College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1965. Dr. Struyk continued his studies earning a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from the Washington University in St. Louis in 1968.
Notably, Dr. Struyk served as a combat engineer in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, including service in Vietnam. As a testament to his success and longevity in the field of economics, he has been elected for inclusion regularly since 1978 in Who's Who in America, in Who's Who in Finance and Business International in 2010, and was in the first group of experts named by the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation.
