COLUMBIA, SC, December 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dante Mozie has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As an instructor of journalism at South Carolina State University, where he has served since 2011, Mr. Mozie approaches his work with compassion and innovation. He hopes to continually bring important issues to light with his work in the mass communications industry, along with highlighting the importance of diversity in the field, having focused on these significant goals for a decade. Before attaining his current position, Mr. Mozie worked as an instructor of mass communications and advisor to the college newspaper at Benedict College.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from South Carolina State University, Mr. Mozie achieved a Master of Science in journalism from Northwestern University. He is currently working towards a doctorate in mass communications from the University of South Carolina, which he expects to earn in 2022. He is also certified in training, teaching and research in convergent media from WAN-IFRA Newsplex.
Mr. Mozie has made considerable strides in media education and was named the Department of English and Communications Professor of the Year by South Carolina State University in 2016. He has presented his research on minority media history and entertainment studies nationally and internationally, and he will publish an article in 2021 in American Journalism, the journal of the American Journalism Historians Association, on student newspaper coverage of the 1968 Orangeburg Massacre.
Attributing his success to his own work ethic along with the support of his mentors, Mr. Mozie initially pursued his career out of the wish to diversify newsrooms, enriching the stories told by the communications industry. As he continues to pursue his professional goals, he hopes to see himself in leadership roles and expand his role in publishing, continuing in his role overseeing journalism students.
Due to his expertise, Mr. Mozie belongs to numerous organizations in his field. He is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the American Journalism Historians Association, and the American Historical Association. Civically, he maintains membership with The Basilica of St. Peter in Columbia, South Carolina.
