WASHINGTON, NY, December 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Maria Pryshlak has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing upon more than 35 years of expertise in higher education administration, curriculum design and development through education, Dr. Pryshlak serves as the elected President of the Ukrainian Free University, one of the oldest private institutions of higher learning in Germany, which offers master's, doctoral and doctoral habilitation degrees. Prior to her current position at this university, she served as the Dean of the Social Sciences and Law Faculty, during which time she maintained responsibility for curriculum planning and initiated both a master's degree program in international law as well as a doctoral program in international business law. Elected twice as dean, Dr. Pryshlak also developed successful partnerships with the Kyiv Mohyla Academy's International Law Program and expanded the faculty body to include professors and experts from various countries of Europe and the USA.
Before her position at Ukrainian Free University, Dr. Pryshlak gained considerable skill in management working as managing editor for a leading journal called "Problems of Communism". She then moved on to become director of European and Eurasian programs at Georgetown University, for which she designed, implemented and supervised training and education programs for leaders, managers and administrators from Eastern Europe and Eurasia who were involved in reform and transition processes. Most notably, she headed the East Central European Scholarship Program, a multi-million dollar program funded by the US Congress, which provided U.S.-based education and training for professionals from various sectors involved in reform processes, as well as in-country and regional training.
After retiring from Georgetown University, Dr. Pryshlak served as president of Lazarski University in Warsaw, as member of the Fulbright Commission in Warsaw and as a member of a special task force for curriculum design at the Polish Ministry of Higher Education. She founded Higher Education Consulting, dedicated to providing support services to universities and colleges with the aim of promoting sustainable growth and competitiveness in higher education.
Dr. Pryshlak earned a Doctor of Philosophy in history and political philosophy from Columbia University. She is the author of a book on European constitutionalist theory, titled "The Well-Ordered State in the Political Philosophy of Lukasz Opalinski," which was published by Jagiellonian University Press and is currently in its fourth edition. She is also the editor of the "Handbook on Diplomacy" through Georgetown University.
In recognition of her outstanding body of work, Dr. Pryshlak has been honored many times, accepting The Golden Eagle Medal from the President of Albania, The Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta from the President of Poland, the Award of Highest Civil Merit from the Prime Minister of Romania, and a Certificate of Recognition and Merit from both the Ministry of Higher Education in Poland and Romania. Looking forward, Dr. Pryshlak aims to continue leading the Ukrainian Free University, which will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary.
