Ms. Smith celebrates more than 15 years of service to her students and the educational profession as a teacher and consultant. Since 2020, Ms. Smith has been an educational advocate with Time to Teach, Inc., building upon years of work as a classroom instructor, support professional and tutor. A graduate of Ball State University, she holds an Associate of Arts in Arts and Humanities and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and has pursued postgraduate coursework in differentiated instruction, instructional design and STEM education.
In addition to her work for Time to Teach, Ms. Smith is a substitute teacher for EDUStaff, where she has taught since 2018. She began her educational career as an instructional assistant and working as an event planner for a national safety education program for children, KinderVision. In addition, she tutored English as a Second Language, for elementary students for two years, Secondly, Ms. Smith was an activities director for four years when she transitioned into a program assistant with AYS, Inc., at two elementary schools in Noblesville, IN. Thirdly, Ms. Smith became active in teaching a tutoring program, within the Middle School Purdue University Gear Up Program. Fourthly, Ms. Smith is a temporary classroom teacher in the public middle school classroom. As an expert in delivering meaningful instruction to K-10 students across subjects and ability levels, Ms. Smith has also been a teaching tutor for Educational Tutorial Services, tutoring online and in person on a national level. She attributes her educational skills to having very good professors in college and gaining experience in teaching. Likewise, Ms. Smith attributes her marketing skills to being a former operations manager for KinderVision, where she spent three years coordinating national events and children's television programming for CBS affiliate stations across the United States.
Ms. Smith enjoys a dual career as an insurance agent with United Healthcare, where she has specialized in lead conversion for individual policies since 2017. She attributes her success in the insurance industry to the marketing skills she retained from her time with her agent manager, and her success in education to her enduring passion for learning. Ms. Smith has been presented with numerous teaching and service awards from students throughout her career, and was recently named a Premiere Gold Agent by United Healthcare. She is the area representative for Youth for Understanding, a member of the board of the Miami County chapter of the Indiana Farm Bureau, and is active in leadership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and Delta Sigma Pi. Ms. Smith looks forward to continuing to grow both as an educator and an insurance professional, with the eventual goal of moving into an educational policy advisory position at a state or national level.
