WILSONVILLE, OR, January 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Benjamin L. Hoff with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Hoff celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Hoff is a celebrated author best-known for his warm and relatable pop-philosophy introductions to Taoism. Ordered to bed rest for much of his childhood due to chronic illness, he became a voracious reader, and began writing for the school newspaper in the third grade. After completing a Bachelor of Arts from Evergreen State College, Mr. Hoff became an investigative reporter before transitioning to writing full-time.
Inspired by his love for Taoist philosophy and his simultaneous frustration at the density and academic tone of many of the available English translations, Mr. Hoff set out to create a more accessible Taoist primer for Western audiences. His "The Tao of Pooh," 1982, and "The Tao of Piglet," 1992, served as pop-cultural introductions to key points of Taoist doctrine presented with digestible and friendly imagery. The books remained on the New York Times Bestseller list for 49 and 59 weeks, respectively, a feat that Mr. Hoff considers among the highlights of his career.
In addition to his writings about Taoist philosophy, Mr. Hoff is the author of an American Book Award-winner, "The Singing Creek Where the Willows Grow: The Rediscovered Diary of Opal Whiteley" (1988). His most recent work is "The Eternal Tao Te Ching," with publication anticipated in 2021. In accounting for his standout success, he credits hard work and the ability to make unusual topics relatable. When he is not writing, Mr. Hoff enjoys modifying cars and designing guitars. He played lead guitar in The Redondos (1965) and United Travel Service (1966-1969).
