Backed by decades of experience in the healthcare industry, Ms. Turner excels as the president of Motivation Hypnosis, which develops innovative hypnotherapy services and products, including the Turner Somatic-Affect Bridge Technique and the Turner Rescue Mission, which aims to facilitate the re-integration of traumatic experiences. Over the years, she has also refined her skills in an adaptation of the David Elman Rapid Induction called the Elman-Turner Induction Technique, as well as developing hypnosis applications to improve ADHD management skills. In addition to her work with Motivation Hypnosis, Ms. Turner serves as the co-founder and director of Hypnovations, which has taught basic, intermediate and advanced clinical hypnosis workshops to more than 400 Licensed clinicians.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Turner honed her expertise in business as an executive vice president and chief operating officer of Americare Health Services, for which she maintained responsibility for the development of strategic plans for home care services. Over the years, she held a range of executive and administrative positions with such companies as Specialized HomeCare, International Health Specialists, M.F. Turner Associates, Shearer/Finnerty Turner. In 1972, Maureen Turner founded C.O.P.E., otherwise known as Coping with the Overall Pregnancy/Parenting Experience, which was noted as the nation's first mental health clinic to specialize in counseling services for pregnant women, new mothers, couples and families. For 35 years, Ms. Turner also found success in private practice.
An expert in her field, Ms. Turner became registered as a nurse in the mid-1960s through the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology at Emmanuel College in 1972. Subsequently, she earned a myriad of certificates and licenses in psychotherapy, counseling, social work, hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming, as well as a Master of Education in counseling from Northeastern University. Driven to remain aware of changes in the ever-evolving field of mental health, Ms. Turner has been affiliated with the National Organization for Women, the American Psychological Association, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and the Northeastern Mountain Society of Clinical Hypnosis, which she co-founded.
Outside of her vast contributions to the healthcare industry, Ms. Turner has contributed to her community through such organizations as Pathways to Well Being, Inc., the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts, and the Healthy Start Infant Mortality Prevention Initiative. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, she has provided her wealth of knowledge to several publications, including "Clinical hypnosis research & practical applications for treatment of teen/adult attention deficit hyperactive disorder and co-morbids: Addictions, anxiety, depression, OCD, ODD & PTSD" and "Age Regression: Novel Approaches Utilizing Clinical Hypnosis Techniques Workshop." Ms. Turner has also been profiled in appearances on local and national radio and television broadcasts, frequently penned responses to parenting question for Parents magazine and participated as a contributing author for the first edition of "Our Bodies, Ourselves."
In light of her outstanding accomplishments, Ms. Turner has been honored many times, accruing features in Women's Day Magazine and Life Magazine. She was additionally presented with a Distinguished Woman Award from Women in Philanthropy in 1989 and a Most Distinguished New Business Award for Motivation Hypnosis from the Wellesley Chamber of Commerce in 2004. In the near future, Ms. Turner intends to continue teaching through virtual conferences and bringing light to her field.
