SAN DIEGO, CA, February 11, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John B. Campbell has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Campbell has personally tried well over 250 civil and criminal trials to completion - in addition to numerous arbitrations. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948 and is, or has been, licensed to practice law in the States of California, Nevada, Massachusetts and Rhode Island (presently inactive in those last 3 states). Mr. Campbell has been admitted to practice before all of the Federal COUl1s in California and Nevada; and he has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Campbell graduated from Harvard University, with a degree in Psychology in 1970. He received his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1973.
From 1973-1977, Mr. Campbell served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy JAG Corps, specializing in criminal litigation. While serving first with the United States Marine Corps in Southeast Asia, and then with the Navy in San Diego, Mr. Campbell prosecuted and defended well over 250 general and special court-martials that were tried to completion. During Mr. Campbell's 13 months with the First Marine Aircraft Wing that was stationed throughout Southeast Asia, Mr. Campbell defended more than 175 court-mal1ial proceedings - at a very busy military Law Center. During his remaining 35 months with the Naval Legal Service Office, at Naval Station San Diego, Mr. Campbell tried well over 75 general and special court-martials - involving claims based upon murder; attempted murder; financial Fraud; sale of illegal substances; etc. Since starting his civil practice in 1977, Mr. Campbell has tried over 35 civil jury trials. Many of those trials involved millions of dollars of exposure. Mr. Campbell has also handled hundreds of binding and non-binding arbitration and mediation proceedings.
For approximately the last eight years, Mr. Campbell has been recognized as a "Top Lawyer in San Diego" –Highest in Ethical Standards & Professional Excellence. Mr. Campbell has maintained the highest "AV" rating for attorneys - as awarded by the national rating society Martindale Hubbell, since approximately 1983. In addition to his career long litigation practice, Mr. Campbell has provided general business advice/transactional assistance to numerous San Diego businesses - and Mr. Campbell has been general counsel to various medical professionals. Mr. Campbell was one of the founding partners of the San Diego firm of Hughes & Campbell (1983-1990). Mr. Campbell has served as the founder/managing partner of Campbell Law Group (since 1990 - which has practiced, under various names, throughout California and Nevada - primarily specializing in construction litigation). Today, Mr. Campbell typically tries one or more trials/arbitrations per year - and is still the managing pal1ner of Campbell Law Group.

Superior Court (1996) 49 Ca1.AppAth 1308; University Canyon Homeowner Association v. Collins Development Company, et al. (2000) 81 Ca1.AppAth 771, Additionally, Mr. Campbell has also been involved in the following non-published appellate opinions; Noon v. US.A. Track & Field, et al. (1998); Smith, et al. v. San Dieguito Unified High School District, et al. (2001); and Hirsch, et al. v. Pacific Crematorium. Inc., et al. (2006).
Although primarily a litigator during his 47 years of lawyering, Mr. Campbell has also provided general business advice and transactional assistance to numerous local San Diego businesses and has also operated as general counsel to various medical professionals/San Diego companies. In his spare time over the past 5 years, as one of his "bucket list" items, Mr. Campbell has also authored four books, with a fifth book (in that series) currently in progress, primarily regarding his military service in Southeast Asia. Mr. Campbell is preparing to publish the first three books in that series in 2021.
Over the years, Mr. Campbell has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Association of Southern California Defense Lawyers, San Diego Defense Lawyers, the San Diego Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the San Diego Building Industry Association and the San Diego County of Associated General Contractors.
As for his personal life, Mr. Campbell has proudly raised three successful children alongside his wonderful wife Vera. He has also been active in numerous organizations, as a member of his community. Looking toward the future, Mr. Campbell hopes to launch a 2nd career as a published fiction writer. He is hoping to successfully market his books as a screenplay/Netflix series. Mr. Campbell still enjoys the practice of law. He has no intentions of retiring any time soon.
