Recognized for more than three decades of professional excellence, Ms. Crawford, now retired, founded ANC Focus Consulting Services LLC, which provides support to educational institutions in the areas of Leadership, Mentorship and Curriculum Planning in 2014. Between 1977 and 2012, she served the Atlanta Public Schools as a high school Science Teacher, the Chairperson of the Science Department, a Model Teacher Leader, an Assistant Principal, Principal, the Executive Director of Operations of High Schools, and the Associate Superintendent of High Schools. Also, during her tenure, Ms. Crawford was designated as the coordinator of the Science and Mathematics Summer Enrichment Academy (SMSEA) at Spelman College, and a Project Fellow in Biochemistry at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Crawford pursued an education at Francis Marion University (SC), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology; and Georgia State University with a Master of Science in Education in 1976 and 1991, respectively. She continued her educational endeavors to earn a certification in Administration and Supervision from State University of West Georgia in 1999; and an Education Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University (TN) in 2000. Ms. Crawford found success with her written works as well, authoring such inspirational books as "My Mamma Said" in 2019. A litany of childhood experiences and adventures that rekindle the innocence of a time when life was hard - way back when. She was so inspired by her personal experiences and life challenges that she wrote her second book "Words Overflowing" in 2021. This book was written using the free verse style with pages of powerful expressions designed to comfort, to encourage, to teach and to touch the heart of the reader.
Passionate in her drive to excel, Ms. Crawford serves as a board member and Executive Secretary of the Georgia Alternative Education Association (GAAE), a committee member and strong supporter of the National Alternative Education Association (NAEA), and a board member of U-First Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to providing food and support to homeless individuals in Atlanta, Georgia and around the nation. From 2005 to 2008, she was recognized for increasing the graduation rate at the Carver School of Entrepreneurship. As a further testament to her success and longevity in the field of education, Ms. Crawford was presented with the National Engineering Design Award, Star Teacher and Teacher of the Year Awards from Harper High School. She was also a member of the Superintendent's Academy for Building Leaders in Education (SABLE), a participant of the National Principal Leadership Institute at Fordham University, the Small School Initiative Institute (ISA) in New York, and appointed to the State Superintendent's Advisory Council.
Ms. Crawford was an experienced visionary leader with a proven track record of providing direction and oversight in the planning, implementation and evaluation of complex operational procedures and processes; as well as change management initiatives and program development at the school and district levels.
She developed and provided guidance for the preparation and distribution of necessary reports, including reports for state, federal, and other funding source with attention to detail. Established effective relationships with various community leaders, district leaders and other stakeholders. Conducted numerous professional learning presentations with excellent oral and written communication, team building, facilitation and collaborative skills.
