Inspired by the influence of his uncle, who is a retired U. S. Air Force Chief Master Sargent. Lt. Col. Gibson followed his uncle's lead and enlisted into the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. He rose through the ranks from an E-1 to become a Staff Sargent before earning a commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant, in the Intelligence career field, and retiring from the United States Air Force as a Lt Col. Notably, he went into the United State Air Force in August of 1964 and retired in March of 2005, with several breaks in service to attend college and work in the Federal Government. After his illustrious career in the U. S. Air Force, Lt. Col. Gibson served, as a civilian contractor, in Afghanistan and Iraq. He saved hundreds of U.S. military lives by working with foreign nationals to locate and remove explosive devices that were set to kill American forces as they traveled along the roadways. He also successfully located stockpiles of weapons that would have been used against U.S. troops. To attest to his success, he holds a Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Forces and Air Force Commendation Medals, Joint Forces and Air Force Achievement Medals, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Valor. Lt. Col. Gibson is backed by a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from The American University, a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland, and a graduate of the United States Air Force Command and Staff College.
As a civilian, Lt. Col. Gibson has been a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Director of Equal Employment Opportunity Programs at Quantico Marine Corps Development and Education Command; Director of Equal Opportunity Programs for the Defense Systems and Information Agency; Director of Affirmative Action Programs at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; Deputy Director of Complaints Processing for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Director of Equal Employment Opportunity Programs for the Nation Credit Union Programs. In the aforementioned positions Lt. Col. Gibson was able to help Federal employees who were discriminated against in the employment process because of their race, color, sex, religion, age, or national origin. He wrote Federal regulations and processed complaints of discrimination that facilitate the integration of a workforce that had been homogenized for years. He was that voice behind the scenes that helped to correct injustice. Today, Lt. Col. Gibson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Gibson Properties (GibsonProperties.org).
