Prior to this position, he worked as the director of the RNAcore facility at Houston Methodist Research Institute, with which he was also active as the assistant research professor of biochemistry. During this time, Dr. Yakubov also excelled as an assistant research professor of biochemistry of Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University.
In order to prepare for his impressive career, Dr. Yakubov pursued an education at Tashkent University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, earning a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and a Master of Science in chemistry in 1983. Obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in life sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel in 2004, he completed postdoctoral coursework in Neurobiology and Molecular Cell Biology from the same academic institution. Notably, Dr. Yakubov's pioneering finding on the feasibility of mRNA as a reprogramming molecule were published in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications in 2010.
The author of numerous highly cited articles in professional (peer-reviewed) journals, Dr. Yakubov additionally holds two Stanford's patents in the fields of synthetic mRNA technology and therapeutic.
