Since coming of age, Mr. Kovacevich has long been interested in history. As a child, he enjoyed playing with Civil War soldier toys, watching television and reading books pertaining to the history of the American Civil War. He carried his passion with him while growing up, and thereafter earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Akron in 1976. During his studies, Mr. Kovacevich was a recipient of a Certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of Akron.
In the 1990s, Mr. Kovacevich was pleased to present his research on President Andrew Johnson. Moreover, he was honored to participate as a Civil War re-enactor and impromptu lecturer to visitors and children. Mr. Kovacevich developed a deep passion for what he was doing and made a career out of lecturing and writing in 2009. Between 2011 and 2014 Mr. Kovacevich served as a military private and civilian re-enactor with the 29th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Mr. Kovacevich has sold his books and papers including his first work about Hannibal Hamlin, Lincoln's first vice president. He is the author of a magazine article, "An Illustrated Biography of Andrew Johnson: 17th President of the United States."
