An accomplished dentist, Dr. Kelman established his practice in 1982, which he maintained until 1987. He subsequently found success as a periodontist at his private practice until his semi-retirement in 2013. During this time, Dr. Kelman continued his career as the chief of periodontology at Interfaith Hospital between 1994 and 1996.
After graduating as the valedictorian of his high school class, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in economics from Queens College in 1978. Shortly thereafter, he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University in 1982 and completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in 1983. He continued his education at the New York University Post Graduate Program in Periodontology, where he earned a certificate in 1987. Additionally, he completed the Branemark course in implantology in 1988, the Montefiore Medical Center course in implantology in 1989 and the New York University course in implantology in 1995.
In addition to his professional journey, Dr. Kelman is an ordained rabbi in Yoreah Yoreah. Moreover, he completed his studies at the Derech Ayson Rabbinical Seminary in 1978. Throughout the course of his career, he has maintained his involvement with the American Dental Association and Alpha Omega. Looking toward the future, Dr. Kelman aims to continue helping patients through his periodontics practice.
