MANASSAS, VA, July 13, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Sharon B. Hermann with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Hermann celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania in 1952, Ms. Hermann's vast musical talents flourished at an early age. She thoroughly trained in several instruments, such as the piano, saxophone and organ, while singing in choir at school and church. She was selected by audition to be a member of several honors bands and choirs in high school, such as County Band, Choir & Orchestra, District Band, Choir & Orchestra as well as Regional All-State Band & Choir. This is when she realized she wanted to teach music more than any other academic subject.
Ms. Hermann subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1974. She began her teaching career as the choral music teacher for the Manassas Park City School District eight years later. After teaching in the aforementioned school district for five years, Ms. Hermann furthered her studies with a Master of Science in music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was later appointed as a vocal music teacher at Fred Lynn Middle School, a position in which she thrived for two years.
Ms. Hermann found tremendous success as the choral director for Osbourn Park High School until her retirement in 2013. During her tenure at Osbourn Park High School, she was honored to be selected as the Teacher of the Year. Another important career accolade for Ms. Hermann was singing at the White House on two occasions, with both performances taking place during Christmas candlelight tours.
Throughout her career, Ms. Hermann has always remained heavily involved in the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manassas. From 1981 until 2004, she played the organ and directed the choir at the aforementioned church. In 2014, Ms. Hermann resumed her role as the church's organist and is proud to maintain this responsibility to this day.
