Drawing on now 10 years of vocational expertise and over 40 years of volunteer experience in leading and ministry, Mr. McWhorter is recognized for his service to the local community. Currently as a chaplain, coach and client service leader at Marketplace Ministries, and during virtually all his adult life, he has served in a plethora of positions throughout his career. Previously, Mr. McWhorter also held positions as an area manager of operations and finance with the United States Postal Service from 1971 until 2007, having begun his private career as an engineer working in the space program for McDonald Douglas Astronautics Company in southern California.
Mr. McWhorter's exemplary performance in the field was born of his academic journey. In 1967, he completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. He continued at Auburn University, with a National Science Foundation fellowship where he earned a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1968. He later attended the University of California Los Angeles, where he attained a Master of Business Administration in 1971. Mr. McWhorter finished his formal education in 2008, after graduating with a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from the Dallas Theological Seminary.
Long devoted to Christ and His church, Mr. McWhorter serves as an elder and shepherd to Memphis' First Evangelical Church. His latest position augments his lifetime of experience in spiritual leadership, which has allowed him to serve his ministry and family. In the future, Mr. McWhorter wishes to continue serving his Lord, his community and faith as both a religious leader and a father and grandfather.
