Ms. Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English from Douglass College, a part of Rutgers University, in 1983. Following this accomplishment, she furthered her education with a diploma from Muhlenberg Nursing School, now JFK Muhlenberg Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder Schools in Plainfield in 2003. Ms. Johnson subsequently concluded her education with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Union County College in 2003 and a Master of Science in Nursing from Kean University in 2016.
After initially gaining experience as a secretary at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's Telemetry/Cardiovascular Unit, Ms. Johnson's supervisor encouraged her to seek a position as a Clinical Care Technician (CCT) through which she prospered until enrolling at nursing school. Beginning in 2003, she has provided exemplary service as a registered nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. In the telemetry unit from 2003 to 2004 she cared for patients preparing for cardiac catheterization, cardiac angioplasty, and pacemaker surgery. Furthermore, from 2004 to 2006, Ms. Johnson cared for patients by educating the patients of their disease process for procedure, changing dressings, wrapping wounds and prepared patients for discharge.
From 2006 to 2008, Ms. Johnson made an impact as a nurse in the Endoscopic Unit, working with patients requiring colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, etc., assisting the gastroenterologist by preparing the equipment and guiding the instruments through the endoscope. In her role with the hospital's surgical intensive care unit from 2008 to 2020, Ms. Johnson also cared for trauma patients, septic patients on infusion medication and assisted those suffering from stroke and cranial hemorrhages.
Beginning in 2020, Ms. Johnson has excelled with Bayada Home Healthcare an international nonprofit home health care provider, in helping clients with daily living activities, including taking proper medication, accompanying them on trips and outings.
Ms. Johnson holds several certifications that include Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS). She is a member of many professional medical organizations, among them Sigma Theta Tau. Her scholarly works include "A Chronology of Nursing Past to Present," "A Technical Difference Between Baby Boomers and Millennial Nurses" and "Sleep Deprivation and Delirium: Is There a Correlation?" in the coming years, Ms. Johnson would like to continue her success as a home healthcare nurse and earn a doctorate degree.
