Mr. Manteuffel is an esteemed civil litigator and personal injury trial attorney who, for the past near 30 years, has worked for several prominent law firms throughout the state of Texas. In 2019, he accepted his most recent position as an associate at Thomas J. Henry Law PLLC in San Antonio. A renowned lawyer, Mr. Henry's practice includes representing victims throughout the United States who have suffered catastrophic injuries, work related accidents, medical malpractice and more. Mr. Manteuffel is now relocating to the Dallas area to enter private practice and spend more time with his grandchildren.
Serving for more than a decade in the military, Mr. Manteuffel was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Armor branch of the U.S. Army in 1977, after which he advanced to the rank of a captain. During this time, he held various positions in cavalry and armor units and on staff, both in the U.S. and Germany until 1988, including command of a company in a tank battalion overseas from 1981 – 82, and serving as an interim commander and training officer in the Foreign Liaison Division of the Armor Center, at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 1983. Following his departure from the military, Mr. Manteuffel began serving as an attorney for Bailey & Williams in Dallas in 1991. He subsequently earned opportunities with several other firms, including Kane, Russell, Coleman & Logan PC, and J.H. Zidell, P.C., before joining Mr. Henry's firm in 2019.
Civically, Mr. Manteuffel has established himself as a leader among his peers. Serving as the president of the Berkner High School Area Exchange Club, he also chaired the board of the West Dallas Youth and Family Center, and was a board director of the Dallas Market Center Rotary Club. Additionally, Mr. Manteuffel has volunteered his time as an attorney on behalf of the Dallas Bar's Lawyers Assisting Minors Program. While a cadet, he was a delegate from the Virginia Military Institute to conferences on world politics and economics at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, and the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
Mr. Manteuffel studied at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics, with distinction, in 1977. He later received a Master of Science in operations research, strategic and tactical sciences, from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, on the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio in 1985, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law in Dallas, where he was a Hatton W, Sumners Scholar, and Managing Staff Editor of the Southwestern Law Journal, in 1991. Mr. Manteuffel was subsequently admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Involved in several professional organizations, Mr. Manteuffel is a member of Omega Rho, the International Honor Society for Operations Research and Management Science, Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and the military division of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Well regarded for his performance in law, he garnered recognition as an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell after ten years of practice. He received the John H. French Medal and the first Jackson-Hope Medal from the Virginia Military Institute in 1977, and was named to the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1985, For his military service, Mr. Manteuffel was decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, an Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon. He also received an American Veterans of World War II Award, a Silver Medal for Army Scholarship from the American Legion and the Military Parachutist Badge, while at V.M.I.
