After earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing from St. Mary's College in 2005, Ms. Kelly obtained a Master of Science in nursing with a focus in emergency planning and disaster management from Benedictine University in 2012. Moreover, she has also become a registered nurse. Likewise, Ms. Kellyis certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and concious sedation.
Ms. Kelly began her career as a registered nurse at Rush University Medical Center with newborn intensive care unit and operating room experience from 2005 to 2008. She later became a clinical account manager for KCI Medical from 2008 to 2009, before working as a registered nurse, focusing on radiology and special procedures, at Loyola Medicine from 2011 to 2013.In 2010, Ms. Kelly subsequently served as a registered nurse, focusing on cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and the charge nurse at Loyola Medicine until 2018. Since 2020, she has excelled as the school nurse at Saint Viator High School. Ms. Kelly currently holds the record with the cardiovascular, thoracic, liver and kidney transplant team from Loyola Medicine for the most organs transplanted in a time period: ten organs in 22 hours.
Ms. Kelly has received many awards and honors throughout her career, including the Spirit of Nursing Award from St. Mary's College and Benedictine University in 2005 and 2012. She was aditionally recognized with the Magis Award for Exemplary Care of Patients Award from Loyola University from 2009 to 2019. Ms. Kelly also dedicates her time to several charitable endeavors, including Men and Women of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and an outreach program in Chicago aiming to bring winter coats and Christmas gifts to children in impovershed neighborhoods in Chicago.
Ms. Kelly maintains several professional memberships, including those with the National Association of School Nurses and the Illinois Association of School Nurses. She attributes her success to her hard work and passion for nursing. In the coming future, Ms. Kelly wishes to continue her career as a school nurse and do what is best for not only her community, but her family.
