Mr. Heitzmann's military tenure began in 2007 as a first lieutenant in the adult medical general ward at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He subsequently advanced to the rank of captain in 2009 before working as a registered nurse in the adult cardiothoracic step-down ward for three years and an emergency room captain in San Antonio for two years. Proceeding to his civilian nursing career in 2012, Mr. Heitzmann further flourished with HCR ManorCare as a nurse supervisor, with which he showcased his skills in emergency and medical surgical nursing.
Transitioning out of health care, Mr. Heitzmann has found success in freight and logistics in the retail sector for Lowe's Home Improvement. He is currently preparing for his next promotion while temporarily working in hospitality. Mr. Heitzmann aspires to hold a position in management in which he can demonstrate his leadership abilities.
Mr. Heitzmann initially pursued an education at Northern Virginia Community College, earning an Associate of Science in 1997 and an Associate of Applied Science in nursing in 2001. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing at George Mason University in 2006, followed by a degree in airframe and powerplant management, summa cum laude, from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in 2020. Mr. Heitzmann is also certified as an aircraft electronics technician through ASTM's National Center for Aerospace and Transportation Technologies since 2019.
Since 2015, Mr. Heitzmann has been volunteering with Action in the Community Through Service. He has also dedicated his time and resources to his local fire department. Mr. Heitzmann is likewise registered as a nurse.
